The Sertoma Fantasy Sports Camp for children who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as those with speech and language impairments was launched in 1997.
With the generous support of many volunteers, businesses and organizations in the community, the camp has thrived and continues to grow.
Our goals are simple:
The Sertoma Fantasy Sports Camp is a camp for speech impaired and deaf or hard of hearing children, ages 8 to 14 (under 8 may attend with parent present). The camp allows these very special children the opportunity to interact with each other while learning a variety of fun and exciting sports.
The Johnson County Sertoma club funds the cost of the camp, including interpreters, supplies, snacks, drinks and equipment. In addition, members of our club voluntarily organize and run the camp, as well as assist in coaching and mentoring the children.
We also develop individual and corporate sponsors who provide lunches, other goods and services.
The Kansas City T-Bones baseball club provides support for the camp. Several players and the club mascot, Sizzle, visit the camp to the delight of the campers.
